Design & Media
Design & Media is ideal for students who enjoy being create, solving problems and bringing ideas to life. The course combines traditional design skills with modern digital technology, encouraging students to think creatively while developing practical skill s used throughout the creative industries.
In this course, students explore graphic design, photography, branding, digital media and visual communication through a range of exciting projects. They learn how to develop ideas from initial concept through to finished products while building confidence using industry-standard software and equipment.
Students will work towards an AQA GCSE Graphic Communication qualification. Throughout the course, they will build a portfolio of creative work by responding to range of design briefs, developing their ideas through research, experimentation and practical design.
The course is made up of two components. Component One is a portfolio of work completed
throughout the course, demonstrating the students creativity, technical skills and development as a designer.
Component Two is an externally set assignment, where they will respond to a design brief provided
by AQA before producing a final outcome.
The assessment is largely practical, giving students the opportunity to showcase their creativity while
developing the skills expected within the creative industries
